Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Igor Wietrzny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Rothstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wietrzny comes to the cage accompanied by Hunter-Fallen. Rothstein comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Enter The Ninja kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Sam Rothstein was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Igor Wietrzny!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Rothstein!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wietrzny tries to clinch up but Rothstein circles away and keeps his distance.

Rothstein shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Wietrzny is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rothstein is controlling the pace.
Wietrzny wants to control but Rothstein is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rothstein is looking to stall here but Wietrzny recovers full guard.
Wietrzny seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Wietrzny is trying to keep Rothstein in close.
Rothstein throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wietrzny works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wietrzny keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rothstein misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rothstein checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Wietrzny takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Rothstein uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Rothstein throws a combination that misses
and Wietrzny counters with a nice uppercut.
Rothstein throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

and Wietrzny counters with an outside leg kick.
Wietrzny walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Rothstein ducks right into an uppercut from Wietrzny.
A punch lands to the side of Rothstein 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wietrzny fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rothstein manages to avoid it.

Wietrzny struggles to land a body shot inside as Rothstein controls his hands.

Rothstein gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wietrzny regains guard.

Rothstein tries to free his leg and advance position but Wietrzny is retaining full guard.

Wietrzny working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rothstein doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rothstein manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wietrzny can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rothstein controls the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wietrzny is trying to keep Rothstein in close.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Wietrzny gets a clinch.

Rothstein jumps guard and drags Wietrzny to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Rothstein is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wietrzny engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Rothstein dominated that round.
That's time! Wietrzny's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Rothstein drives through and clinches with Wietrzny against the cage.
Wietrzny is trying to maintain a safe position but Rothstein gets an underhook and turns Wietrzny into the cage.
Wietrzny misses with a knee to the head.
Rothstein lands a left hand.
Wietrzny fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Wietrzny tries to score a body lock takedown but Rothstein shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Rothstein breaks the clinch.

Rothstein closes the distance and clinches.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Wietrzny as Rothstein tries to tie him up.
Rothstein has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rothstein pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A combination from Wietrzny does no damage.
Rothstein throws a head kick that misses.
Rothstein takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Wietrzny digs a good body shot into Rothstein's ribs.
Rothstein ducks under a wild hook from Wietrzny.
Wietrzny tries to bum rush Rothstein with a series of wild strikes but Rothstein uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wietrzny throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rothstein comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Rothstein moves away from the strike by Wietrzny.

Rothstein closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wietrzny to the mat! Wietrzny manages to get full guard.

Wietrzny is looking for a sweep. Rothstein is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Wietrzny keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wietrzny is looking to control Rothstein's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wietrzny avoid being mounted?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Rothstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rothstein closes the distance and pushes Wietrzny back into the cage.
Wietrzny lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Wietrzny makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wietrzny creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Rothstein lands a left hand that snaps the head of Wietrzny backwards.
Wietrzny has a couple of punches blocked by Rothstein.

Rothstein escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rothstein looks to land a combination. Wietrzny sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wietrzny connects with a crisp jab.
Rothstein uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wietrzny.
Rothstein slips a straight right by Wietrzny.
Rothstein moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Wietrzny feints a jab promting Rothstein to slip. Wietrzny then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rothstein slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Rothstein shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Wietrzny has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Rothstein has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Wietrzny lands with a light punch inside.
Rothstein goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wietrzny takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Rothstein closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wietrzny did well to prevent Rothstein getting side control.

I would just about give that final round to Sam Rothstein.
