PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jet Hemi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jandre Vorster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hemi comes into the arena with Satyricon - Fuel For Hatred blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jet Hemi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jandre Vorster!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hemi leaves Vorster with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Vorster tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hemi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hemi tries to clinch but Vorster is having none of it.
Vorster with the counter takedown but Hemi avoids it easily.
Vorster will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Vorster checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Hemi closes the distance and clinches.
Hemi misses with some punches.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hemi creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Hemi tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hemi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Vorster has him pressed against the cage.
Hemi lands a hook that snaps the head of Vorster backwards.

Vorster jumps guard.

Vorster looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hemi passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hemi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vorster knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Vorster tries to roll over but Hemi keeps him under control.

Hemi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Vorster slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Vorster escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hemi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vorster is looking for a triangle here but Hemi uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Vorster is looking to reverse the position.
Vorster told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hemi trying to control the position but Vorster is working away.
Vorster tries to improve position but can't.
Hemi wants to control but Vorster is keeping him busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Vorster tries to bench press Hemi off him but Hemi keeps the position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hemi tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hemi swings for the body but Vorster moves out of range.
Hemi keeps the fight on the outside.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Hemi!

Vorster has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vorster takes a shot to the head.
Vorster prevents a body shot from Hemi.
Hemi tries to break free but Vorster pushes him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jet Hemi dominated that round.
That's time! Hemi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hemi lands a jab to Vorster's midsection.

Vorster clinches up against the cage.
Hemi is pressed up against the cage. Vorster has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hemi down to the mat. Hemi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Vorster tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hemi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hemi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Hemi lands a jab to Vorster's midsection.
Vorster is looking to clinch but Hemi is avoiding it.

Vorster gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hemi lands a knee to the head.

Vorster has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hemi regains guard immediately.

Vorster drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hemi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vorster has Hemi in his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vorster bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hemi's guard.

Vorster wants to control from the top but Hemi keeps moving.
Hemi has his hands on Vorster's head, controlling the position.

Vorster thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Vorster drops back looking for a leg! Hemi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hemi manages to kick Vorster off! Vorster jumps back into Hemi's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vorster might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hemi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Vorster is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hemi is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hemi has escaped and now he's on top!

Hemi wanted to stand there but Vorster had control of the position.
Hemi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Vorster can do to turn this around?

Vorster is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Vorster looking to control but Hemi passes into half guard.
Hemi is keen to just control but Vorster is a slippery customer.

Vorster looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Vorster makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vorster.
Hemi is stalling in the full guard.
Jandre Vorster has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Vorster is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hemi defends well.
Vorster looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jet Hemi will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hemi swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Vorster jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hemi walks away with a smile on his face. Vorster gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

It looked like Hemi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Vorster is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Vorster closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vorster lands in his opponent's guard.

Hemi manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Vorster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Nice straight punches there by Hemi. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hemi.
Hemi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vorster shoots in looking for a takedown. Hemi tries to sprawl out of it but Vorster keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hemi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hemi was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Hemi swings wildly with an uppercut but Vorster uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hemi manages to break the clinch.
Hemi tries to bum rush Vorster with a series of wild strikes but Vorster uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Vorster tries to close the distance and clinch but Hemi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jandre Vorster has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hemi shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Vorster eats them both and turns towards Hemi to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Vorster is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hemi has managed to free his arm - good work.
Vorster takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vorster frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Vorster can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hemi is looking to escape.

Vorster goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hemi is on top in guard.

Vorster looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hemi wants to control from the top but Vorster keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jet Hemi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hemi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
