Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Carlies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichiro Maki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Carlies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichiro Maki!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlies darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carlies wants to control but Maki is keeping him busy.
Carlies trying to control the pace.
Maki blocking the ground and pound attempt from Carlies.
Carlies throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Carlies is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Maki!

Carlies looking to secure an arm triangle but Maki defends it well.
Carlies can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Maki is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carlies is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Maki is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Carlies has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carlies landing strikes from the mount.
Carlies trying to control but Maki is having none of it.
Carlies avoids the attempt from Maki to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maki is trying desperately to improve position.

Carlies is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Maki is surviving well by controlling Carlies's body position as best he can.
Maki is squirming around, avoiding Carlies's attempts to control the action.
Carlies tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maki throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Carlies wants to control the pace but Maki is squirming around nicely.
Maki can't escape the position.
Carlies avoids the attempt from Maki to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maki is in all sorts of trouble here.
Maki looks gassed!

Carlies working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Maki is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Maki tries to reverse the position but Carlies maintains control.
Carlies looking to control and managing it successfully.
Carlies trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Maki is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Maki is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Carlies dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Maki avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carlies throws a nice looking combination but Maki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Maki fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carlies, pushing him back against the cage.

Carlies manages to break the clinch.

Carlies closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Maki manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Maki is just content to waste time from the top position. Carlies takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Maki wants to control from the top but Carlies keeps moving.

Carlies has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Maki should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Carlies has tightened it up now! Maki should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). James Carlies!
