Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paolo Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Varner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero scores with the left hand. Varner knows he should have avoided that one.
A telegraphed right hand from Guerrero misses the target.
Varner is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

and Varner counters with a nice double leg into side control. Guerrero won't be happy with that.

Varner creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Guerrero sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Guerrero's coaches at Furia Top Team have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Varner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Varner shoots in for a double leg but Guerrero sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Guerrero throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Varner stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Varner has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Guerrero dips to his left and cracks Varner with an uppercut!
