Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tito Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Tito Gomez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tito Gomez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Benny Perez!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez misses with a takedown attempt - Perez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Perez tries to counter by closing the distance.
Perez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomez.

Perez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Perez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gomez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Perez has gone for a leg lock! Gomez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Perez's guard.

Perez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Perez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gomez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Perez has Gomez in his guard.

Gomez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Perez sees it coming and defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Perez can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gomez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Gomez wants to pass to mount but Perez is defending the position.

Gomez closes the distance and clinches up with Perez, looking for a takedown. Gomez pushes Perez against the cage but Perez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Perez pulls Gomez in close to prevent any damage.

Perez has his hands clasped together around Gomez's back. He's all about the action.
Gomez prevents Perez from improving his position.
Gomez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gomez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Perez tries to buck Gomez off but Gomez is having none of it.

Gomez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gomez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
