Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darren Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Newton's choice of entrance music: Destiny's Child - Bootylicious. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Powell as he jumps to the side.
Newton takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Powell bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Newton shoots in but no luck this time.
Powell connects with the punch.
Newton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Powell was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Darren Powell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Newton.
A jab lands there for Powell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newton takes one on the button.
Powell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Powell misses with a body shot.
Darren Powell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Newton dodges the punch combination from Powell.

Powell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Powell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Newton, pushing him back against the cage.
Powell presses Newton against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Powell tries to work over Newton's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Powell has a couple of punches blocked by Newton.
Newton manages to break the clinch.
A jab from Powell misses.
Newton tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Powell swings for the body but Newton moves out of range.
And Newton tries to counter it with a takedown but Powell pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Powell misses with a body punch
and Newton counters with a single leg into guard. Powell didn't expect that.
Newton lands a couple of digs.
Newton should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Newton keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Powell's head.
Newton drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Newton as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Powell screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Newton! Nice submission victory there!

During a confident post fight interview, Carlos Newton thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
