The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vacon plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Nice takedown defense from Vacon. No joy for MacDonald on that attempt.
MacDonald will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A nice inside leg kick there by Vacon. That's going to slow MacDonald down.

Vacon is trying to control MacDonald's posture but MacDonald avoids it.
MacDonald works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
MacDonald creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
MacDonald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Vacon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but MacDonald wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
