Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ed Zachary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Nevils (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nevils is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Someday- Flipsyde. Ed Zachary has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ed Zachary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Nevils!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nevils throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zachary.
Zachary tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nevils paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Zachary moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Nevils misses with a two punch combination.
Nevils scores with a jab to the jaw.
Nevils cracks Zachary with a good jab.

Zachary clinches with his opponent.

Zachary breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nevils looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Zachary tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nevils with a nice cross.

Zachary scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Nevils's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nevils is looking to regain half guard here but Zachary keeps moving and retains side control.

Zachary moves into full mount! Nevils won't be happy about that!
Zachary fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nevils tries to free his leg and advance position but Zachary is retaining full guard.

Zachary is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Zachary is trying to keep Nevils in close.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A combination from Nevils does no damage.

Nevils shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nevils was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Zachary dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nevils misses with a takedown attempt - Zachary sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Zachary is looking to improve his position but Nevils isn't that keen on the idea.

Zachary moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, if Nevils is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nevils looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Zachary wants to get back to full guard but Nevils has passed into side control.
Zachary flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Nevils lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Nevils controlling from the full mount.
Zachary working to try and regain half guard.
Nevils scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Nevils cracks Zachary with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Zachary is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nevils content just to control the position here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nevils controlling the pace for now.
Nevils lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
A nice elbow there by Nevils.
Zachary taking shots to the head.
Nevils tries to control but Zachary wriggling away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Zachary really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Nevils showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A nice combination there by Nevils.
Zachary fails with an attempt to clinch.

Nevils lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Zachary's corner calls for a 1-2. Zachary obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ed Zachary is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Zachary gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Nevils passes Zachary's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Zachary has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nevils is working away from the top position though.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nevils trying to control but Zachary is working from the bottom.

Nevils drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Zachary manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nevils has Zachary in his guard.
Zachary is looking to work some ground and pound but Nevils has wrist control.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nevils is on top in guard.

Zachary is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nevils must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Zachary lands a couple of shots from the bottom.
Zachary trying to keep a closed guard but Nevils is proving a slippery customer.

Zachary is looking for a triangle but Nevils pushes his legs off easily.
Zachary is striking but Nevils is not phased and passes to half guard.
Nevils wants to pass the guard but Zachary is defending well.

Nevils tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Nevils wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zachary, who protects the arm well.

Ryan Nevils comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nevils has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
