PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Harbor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan TheMan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). TheMan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Get Up Again kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Harbor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 29 - 1, fighting out of London, Stan TheMan!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harbor scores with a body shot.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Harbor checks a leg kick.
TheMan looks to land a right hand but Harbor moved out of range.
TheMan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Harbor scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Harbor fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A jab from Harbor misses.

Harbor drives through with a takedown into TheMan's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
TheMan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Harbor dives into side control.

Harbor is looking to take a break and control but TheMan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
TheMan is trying to get back to his feet.

Harbor is trying to ground and pound but TheMan uses the momentary lack of control by Harbor to regain half guard.

Harbor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Harbor is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. TheMan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harbor.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harbor wants to free his trapped foot but TheMan is holding on for dear life with his legs.

and Harbor counters with a nice double leg into side control. TheMan won't be happy with that.

It looks like Stan TheMan has been cut.
Harbor creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
A control attempt from TheMan but he's now mounted!

That has opened up Stan TheMan's cut even more.
James Harbor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Harbor is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But TheMan has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from TheMan!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

TheMan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Harbor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that TheMan can do to turn this around?

TheMan cracks Harbor with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and TheMan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Harbor throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent TheMan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Harbor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but TheMan avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts TheMan, as that shot connected.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Harbor will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Stan TheMan's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Harbor uses good head movement to avoid the hook from TheMan.

Harbor has been working on his balance at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $900 fee), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by TheMan.

Harbor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so TheMan is just riding it out for now. Harbor eventually gives up the hold.

Harbor lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
TheMan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stan TheMan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Harbor wants to control but TheMan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

TheMan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Harbor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

TheMan tries to stand and escape but Harbor is controlling the position.

Well Harbor has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
