Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Larsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Gapuz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prince Gapuz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kurt Larsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Prince Gapuz!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Larsson.


It looks like Prince Gapuz has been cut.
Gapuz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Larsson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gapuz keeps the fight on the outside.
Larsson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gapuz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


Gapuz is rocked!
Larsson tries to clinch there but Gapuz circles away.
Larsson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gapuz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice sprawl there from Larsson as Gapuz shoots in.
Gapuz keeps the fight on the outside.

and Gapuz counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Larsson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gapuz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Larsson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Larsson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Larsson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gapuz manages to get himself to full guard.

Larsson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gapuz's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gapuz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gapuz looking for a sweep. Not yet Gapuz, not yet.
Gapuz has a closed guard, preventing Larsson from standing up.

Larsson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gapuz trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Gapuz trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Gapuz wants to improve his position but instead Larsson has moved into half guard.

Larsson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Larsson is tying to control. Gapuz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Larsson connects with a solid leg kick.
Larsson misses with a takedown

so Gapuz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Larsson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gapuz is working Larsson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Larsson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gapuz is one step ahead there.

Larsson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gapuz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Larsson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gapuz's back instead.
Gapuz is keeping busy.
Larsson has the hooks in. Gapuz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Larsson. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on Gapuz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gapuz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Prince Gapuz's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Gapuz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Larsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gapuz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gapuz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Larsson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gapuz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Larsson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Larsson is looking to sinch up a triangle. Gapuz throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Larsson's body to avoid the submission. Larsson has instead reached around Gapuz's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Larsson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kurt Larsson!
