And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Novaes drives through with a takedown into Holland's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Holland tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Novaes just stands there and leans against the cage.

Novaes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Novaes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Novaes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Holland has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Holland wants to control from the top but Novaes keeps moving.

Novaes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Novaes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Holland with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Novaes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Novaes moves nicely into side control.

Novaes swings around for an armbar but Holland sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Novaes's guard.

Holland won't allow Novaes to get back to his feet.
Novaes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Novaes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Holland gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Danilo Novaes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Holland's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Holland seems a little lost for a moment, as Novaes dominates the positioning.

Novaes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Novaes wants to finish this one by submission but Holland is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Novaes.

Well Novaes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
