PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Luke Stonemas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Costin Claudiu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Claudiu has chosen Mice and Gods as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Claudiu fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Stonemas walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Nice straight punches there by Claudiu. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Claudiu.
Stonemas chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Claudiu can pounce on him.
Claudiu lunges at Stonemas with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Stonemas's hand.
Stonemas works the jab nicely.
Stonemas moves out of range of the body kick from Claudiu.
Stonemas is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Claudiu blocks a jab.
Claudiu cracks the inside of Stonemas's front leg.

Claudiu looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Claudiu connects with a leg kick. Stonemas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Stonemas misses with an uppercut

and Claudiu moves into the clinch.
Stonemas is trying to force a seperation but Claudiu has the dominant position.
I was talking to Stonemas's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Claudiu lands a nice elbow.
Claudiu lands a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A short body shot lands from Claudiu as the two fighters clinch.
Claudiu lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Stonemas or not.
Claudiu told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Claudiu throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Claudiu works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Stonemas is breathing heavily.
Claudiu lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Stonemas is trying to push Claudiu away but Claudiu has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Claudiu tries to throw a body punch but Stonemas avoids it by throwing Claudiu back against the ropes.

Stonemas is trying to break the clinch but Claudiu is controlling him.

Stonemas is rocked!
Claudiu creates a bit of distance and cracks Stonemas with a big uppercut! Stonemas goes down! The referee pushes Claudiu away into a neutral corner and starts the count. 4,5,6,7. Will Stonemas make it up in time? He's still flopping around all over the place! The referee has called off the fight! Claudiu takes it!
