Virtanen has chosen Muistipalapelit by Stam1na as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Montelbon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Virtanen circles away.

Von Montelbon gets caught flat footed, as Virtanen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Virtanen trying to control the position from guard on top but Von Montelbon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Von Montelbon has his foot on Virtanen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Virtanen works his way back into a safe position though.

Von Montelbon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Virtanen is working away from the top position though.

Virtanen is keen to just control but Von Montelbon is a slippery customer.
Von Montelbon wants to improve his position but Virtanen is controlling well.
Virtanen wants to free his trapped foot but Von Montelbon is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Von Montelbon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Virtanen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

so Virtanen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Virtanen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Von Montelbon is just riding it out for now. Virtanen eventually gives up the hold.

Virtanen has hold of Von Montelbon's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Von Montelbon tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Virtanen cranks the arm and Von Montelbon screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Von Montelbon, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
