PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Breese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lee Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benny Breese!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce shoots in for a double leg but Breese sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Breese avoids a kick to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pierce looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Breese fails with the takedown.
Breese shoots in looking for a takedown. Pierce tries to sprawl out of it but Breese keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pierce manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pierce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Breese throws a fast counter high kick but Pierce manages to duck under it in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pierce decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pierce controlling the position easily from mount.
Pierce looking to control but Breese is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pierce sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Pierce misses with a head shot.
Pierce throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Breese because Pierce loaded up on that one.

Pierce trying to control but Breese is having none of it.

Pierce punching from mount but Breese doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Pierce takes Breese's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Breese is in trouble.

Pierce wants to control but Breese is keeping busy.

Pierce has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Breese has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Pierce throwing wild punches that miss their target.
You can see the frustration on Breese's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Breese is keeping busy.
Breese trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Breese has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Pierce.
You can see the frustration on Breese's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Pierce dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Breese clinches with his opponent.

Breese has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pierce uses from the top position.
Breese avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Breese is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pierce is aware though and is defending well.
Pierce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pierce wants to control from the top but Breese keeps moving.

Breese is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pierce defends well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Breese can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pierce is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Breese has escaped the position, nice work there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pierce wants to lay and pray for a moment but Breese keeps working.

Pierce in side control, just content to control the action for now.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pierce has managed to clinch.
Pierce prevents the takedown attempt.

Pierce has picked Breese up - he's going for a ride! Pierce dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Breese wants to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pierce is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Breese can do to turn this around?

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pierce.
Pierce shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Breese pinned against the cage. Breese gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Breese is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Pierce wants the takedown. Breese is fighting it off but Pierce persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Breese's guard against the cage.

Breese has Pierce pulled in close to control his posture.
Breese is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pierce is defended easily by Breese.
Breese is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Pierce. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Breese closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pierce's guard.

Horrible takedown attempt by Pierce or perhaps it was just good defense by Breese, which made it look bad.

Pierce closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Breese is pressed up against the cage. Pierce has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Breese down to the mat. Breese avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nice takedown defense from Pierce. No joy for Breese on that attempt.

Breese wants to improve his position but Pierce is controlling well.

Breese is trying to get back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lee Pierce showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pierce, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
