Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dorian Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jay Martins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Martins's choice of entrance music: bloody in my eyes. Jay Jay Martins looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dorian Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Jay Martins!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush cracks Martins with an open hand slap.

Martins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rush looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rush tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Rush is looking to improve his position but Martins isn't that keen on the idea.

Rush wants to hold on but Martins pushes him away.

Martins has hold of Rush's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rush manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rush can't escape the position.
Martins wants to control the pace but Rush is squirming around nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rush is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Rush tries to reverse the position but Martins maintains control.
Rush tries to lock up and control but Martins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Martins takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rush is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Martins lands a big elbow.
My spies in Hyperion Fight Club inform me that Martins has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Rush really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Rush really wants to buck Martins off and get back to his feet.

Martins wants to control the pace but Rush is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Martins is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rush can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

You get the feeling that Rush really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Martins wants to control the pace but Rush is squirming around nicely.
Martins lands a couple of good shots and Rush has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Martins wants to control but Rush is keeping busy.
Martins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rush has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Martins.
Rush is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Martins is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rush is defending well though. Martins let's go of the attempt for now.
Rush is trying to stand back up.

Rush manages to reverse the position and now he's in Martins's guard. Nice work there by Rush.

Rush wants to stand and escape but instead Martins has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rush tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Jay Martins dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Martins looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rush!
Martins grinds an elbow into Rush's temple.
Rush tries to escape but Martins is in control.
Rush tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Martins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Jay Jay Martins has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rush is not content to let Martins control the position.
Rush wants to get back to his feet but Martins is dominant here and he's now got Rush's back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
