Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luiz Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tapio Sammalkorpi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sammalkorpi is defended easily by Ramos.
Ramos swings for the body but Sammalkorpi moves out of range.
Sammalkorpi shoots in looking for a takedown but Ramos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sammalkorpi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ramos is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Sammalkorpi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Luiz Ramos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tapio Sammalkorpi.
Sammalkorpi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ramos tries to avoid it but Sammalkorpi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ramos to the ground. Ramos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sammalkorpi closes the distance and clinches up with Ramos, looking for a takedown. Sammalkorpi pushes Ramos against the cage but Ramos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ramos swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Sammalkorpi has his takedown stuffed
and Ramos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramos thuds a left hand into Sammalkorpi's body.
Sammalkorpi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Sammalkorpi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ramos's waist but Ramos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sammalkorpi off to one side.
Ramos throws a hook but Sammalkorpi blocks it.
Sammalkorpi fails with the takedown.

Sammalkorpi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sammalkorpi lands in his opponent's guard.
Sammalkorpi won't allow Ramos to get back to his feet.
Sammalkorpi wants to control from the top but Ramos keeps moving.
Sammalkorpi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ramos on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ramos tries to get out of the position.
Sammalkorpi prevents Ramos from getting back to his feet.
Sammalkorpi lands a couple of elbows.
Sammalkorpi controlling from the top position.
Sammalkorpi content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Sammalkorpi postures up and lands a big shot to Ramos's brow.
Sammalkorpi stops Ramos from standing up.
Sammalkorpi lands a couple of digs.
Ramos wants to stand but Sammalkorpi is controlling the position.
Sammalkorpi connects with a couple of short punches.
Sammalkorpi controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sammalkorpi is pushing down on Ramos's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ramos is fighting to maintain full guard but Sammalkorpi has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sammalkorpi looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sammalkorpi is controlling the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sammalkorpi scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Sammalkorpi controlling the pace.
Ramos tries to kick Sammalkorpi off but Sammalkorpi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sammalkorpi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sammalkorpi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Sammalkorpi lands strikes from half guard.

Sammalkorpi maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Ramos could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Sammalkorpi has cracked it and Ramos is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Sammalkorpi!

An out of breath Tapio Sammalkorpi thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
