Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bull Mash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Maroga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lance Maroga!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maroga displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mash.

Mash gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mash can't keep his opponent in guard - Maroga advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Mash pushes Maroga off and gets back to his feet.

Mash is trying hard to land a takedown here. Maroga sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Maroga closes the distance and clinches up with Mash, looking for a takedown. Maroga pushes Mash against the cage but Mash circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maroga.
Bull Mash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Maroga.
Mash dives in and grabs Maroga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maroga pushes down on Mash's head and hops out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Maroga tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Mash tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maroga wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Maroga remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maroga has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Maroga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bull Mash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Maroga dives in and scores a takedown into Mash's guard.

Mash has momentary wrist control but Maroga slips an elbow through the middle.
Mash looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mash controls Maroga momentarily but Maroga frees himself.
Mash keeping moving, preventing Maroga from controlling successfully.
Maroga working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mash has his foot on Maroga's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maroga works his way back into a safe position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mash changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maroga tries to avoid it but Mash manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maroga to the ground. Maroga escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Maroga. No joy for Mash on that attempt.
Maroga has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mash dives in for a single leg takedown but Maroga sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bull Mash. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mash fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maroga avoids it really well and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mash is defended easily by Maroga.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maroga takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Maroga working over Mash with some ground and pound. Mash looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Maroga thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Maroga perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Maroga seems to be looking for submissions.
Maroga wants to free his trapped foot but Mash is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mash is not content to let Maroga control the position.
Maroga passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mash!

Maroga trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Maroga working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Mash is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Maroga is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mash can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
BOOM! Maroga connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Maroga goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mash is on top in guard.
Maroga wants to sweep here but Mash controlling him for the moment.
Maroga wants to get back to his feet but Mash is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Maroga bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mash's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Maroga is working Mash over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lance Maroga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Mash gets caught napping as Maroga dives in and scores a takedown. Mash manages to retain guard.

Mash seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Maroga moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Maroga wants to stand up but Mash is controlling him.
Maroga wants to sweep but no luck.
Maroga is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Maroga is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Mash trying to hold on to Maroga's head to control him but Maroga postures up.
Mash won't allow Maroga to pass to mount.

Maroga is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mash has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mash is refusing to be controlled, as Maroga sits in half guard.

Mash preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Maroga looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Maroga. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Mash is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mash shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Maroga drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mash defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mash darts in looking for a takedown but Maroga gets double underhooks and turns Mash into the cage.

Maroga drives through with a takedown into Mash's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Maroga wants to control from the top but Mash keeps moving.

Bull Mash has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lance Maroga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mash is working an open guard so Maroga takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Lance Maroga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maroga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
