Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between The Filipino Champ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Tatli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, The Filipino Champ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robert Tatli!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tatli looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Champ throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tatli escapes and throws Champ's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Champ is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Tatli is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

I really don't envy Champ right now.
Champ breaks Tatli's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Champ throws a big elbow that misses.

Tatli has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Champ can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Champ postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tatli is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Champ, into his guard.


Champ has his foot on Tatli's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tatli works his way back into a safe position though.

Tatli seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Tatli takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Champ is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tatli pulls his head out easily.
Tatli slows the pace down in half guard.
Champ wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Champ is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Champ shoots in for a takedown but Tatli shows good takedown defense.
Tatli is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Tatli closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Champ quickly recovers to half guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Champ is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tatli off and has taken his back!

Champ is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Champ has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Tatli has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Champ is persistently looking for the submission but Tatli is defending it well.

Champ is striking well from the back but Tatli escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Champ lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Champ connects with a nice short shot to Tatli's temple.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Tatli fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Champ, pushing him back against the cage.
Champ has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tatli is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Tatli breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Champ checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

The Filipino Champ is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Champ ducks right into an uppercut from Tatli.

Tatli closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Champ did well to prevent Tatli getting side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tatli is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Champ still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Champ has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Champ is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tatli knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Champ has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to The Filipino Champ.
I think Champ has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
