Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Halperin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Lampone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Halperin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I am going to kill you (with the help of Muno). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Halperin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rocco Lampone!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lampone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Halperin wants to sweep here but Lampone controlling him for the moment.
Halperin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Halperin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lampone preventing the sweep.
Halperin keeping full guard, as Lampone tries to pass.
Lampone working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Lampone scoring with some ground and pound.
Lampone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lampone trying to control the position from guard on top but Halperin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lampone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Halperin is keeping the position for now.

Lampone postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Halperin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lampone gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Halperin working for a triangle but Lampone defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Halperin keeping moving, preventing Lampone from controlling successfully.
Lampone trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lampone works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Lampone wants to take a breather but Halperin is having none of it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lampone missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Halperin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lampone lands with a punch from half guard.
Halperin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Halperin.

Halperin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lampone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lampone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Halperin is breathing heavily.

Lampone preventing the sweep.
Lampone wants to control from the top but Halperin keeps moving.
Lampone seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Halperin had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lampone is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Halperin Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lampone's back instead.
Lampone wants to control his opponent's hands but Halperin gets his hands free.
Lampone is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Halperin off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Halperin is trying to stick to Lampone's back but Lampone is turning into Halperin. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Halperin's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lampone.
Lampone wants to control from the top but Halperin keeps moving.
Lampone throwing strikes but missing.
Lampone throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Halperin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lampone trying to control but Halperin is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Halperin shoots in but Lampone avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Lampone scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lampone scores with punches from side control.
Halperin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Halperin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lampone trying to control but Halperin postures up.

Halperin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lampone is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Halperin is looking to advance position but Lampone won't allow it.
Lampone wants to control but Halperin is keeping busy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Lampone gets the takedown into side control.
Lampone grinds an elbow into Halperin's temple.
Halperin is looking to reverse the position.
Lampone lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Halperin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Halperin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Halperin takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
You can see the frustration on Halperin's face as Lampone controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocco Lampone dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lampone fails with the takedown.
Halperin shoots in for a double leg but Lampone sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Lampone decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lampone seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lampone prevents Halperin from improving his position.
Lampone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Halperin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Halperin regains full guard. Nicely done.

Lampone is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Halperin has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Lampone is looking to defend but Halperin has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Lampone! Halperin pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Lampone taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Daniel Halperin!
