Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robert Desin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dumaham Bijan!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desin misses with a takedown attempt
and Bijan counters with a right hand to the body.

Bijan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Desin's guard.

Bijan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bijan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Desin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bijan controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Desin can't keep his opponent in guard - Bijan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bijan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Bijan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Desin defends it well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bijan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Desin is breathing heavily.
Bijan trying to control the position from guard on top but Desin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bijan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Desin wants to stand and escape but Bijan is having none of it.
Desin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bijan.
Bijan pushes down on Desin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bijan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Desin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bijan stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Desin to get to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bijan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Desin's guard.
Desin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bijan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Bijan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Bijan moves into range and clinches up with Desin.

Bijan pulls Desin into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bijan is on top in guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dumaham Bijan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bijan tries a head kick but it misses.
Desin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bijan wants to pass the guard but Desin is keeping the position.

Desin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bijan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bijan stands up from Desin's guard - Bijan perhaps looking for a knockout.
Desin shoots in but Bijan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Desin crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bijan - the referee stops the clock and Desin gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bijan. Desin manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Robert Desin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bijan connects with a high kick.

Bijan closes the distance and clinches.
Bijan lands an elbow that stopped Desin in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Robert Desin has been cut.

Bijan turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Bijan is continuing to stall.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bijan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Bijan stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Desin bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Bijan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dumaham Bijan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Robert Desin's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Desin enables Bijan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Desin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bijan in particular looking to stall.

Bijan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Desin is just riding it out for now. Bijan eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Desin wants to control but Bijan postures up.

Bijan decides to stand back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dumaham Bijan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bijan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
