Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Owen Clark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Kuai!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark closes the distance and clinches.
Kuai breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kuai throws a head kick but Clark moves out of range.
Kuai shoots for a double leg takedown but Clark sprawls well. He's pushed Kuai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kuai changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Clark looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Clark is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kuai's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Clark is looking for a sweep. Kuai is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Clark controlling the position for now.
Kuai throwing shots but Clark is blocking nicely.
Clark moves into full guard.
Clark lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kuai looking for a guillotine here but Clark defends easily.
Clark stands up from Kuai's guard - Clark perhaps looking for a knockout.
Nice takedown defense from Clark. No joy for Kuai on that attempt.
Clark throws a big counter combination but Kuai scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Clark slaps away a takedown attempt from Kuai, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Owen Clark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Kuai.
Kuai looks winded!
Kuai misses the shot to the body.
Clark instigates a clinch.
Clark breaks from the clinch.
Kuai feints and as Clark raises his hands in defense, Kuai changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Clark is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Kuai presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Clark breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kuai misses with a head kick.
Kuai gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Clark to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Clark gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kuai has eaten all the pies!
Kuai throws a sloppy head kick and Clark moves out of range easily.
Clark shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Clark was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Clark has hold of Kuai's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kuai seems comfortable defending it but Clark has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kuai is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kuai is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Clark couldn't care less - he's delighted!
