Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sterling Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Ankill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sterling Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kim Ankill!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nixon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ankill's guard.
Nixon working some strikes from top position.
Nixon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ankill preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Nixon throwing strikes but missing.
Ankill is trying to control the position but Nixon postures up.
Nixon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Nixon scoring with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nixon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nixon stands up over Ankill, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nixon throws an elbow that misses. Ankill uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nixon's guard. Nice move by Ankill!

Nixon trying to strike off his back.
Ankill passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Nixon throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ankill wants to take a breather but Nixon is having none of it.
Nixon misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Nixon missing with punches from the bottom.
Nixon is holding on to half guard well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nixon is trying to get back to full guard.
Nixon is working hard here to advance position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ankill has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nixon drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nixon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ankill pulls his leg out and moves away.

Nixon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ankill manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Nixon prevents Ankill from getting back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nixon throwing strikes from guard but Ankill blocks nicely.
Nixon postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Nixon scoring with punches to the head and body.
Nixon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ankill should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Nixon is looking to work some ground and pound but Ankill has wrist control.
Ankill has momentary wrist control but Nixon slips an elbow through the middle.
Ankill looks winded!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nixon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.


Ankill is rocked!
Nixon lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sterling Nixon dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ankill is still in real trouble! Can Nixon finish him?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ankill keeping moving, preventing Nixon from controlling successfully.
Ankill seems to have recovered his senses.
Nixon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Nixon throws a big elbow that misses.
Nixon scoring with punches to the head and body.

Ankill working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nixon.
Ankill is breathing heavily.

Ankill wants to stand up but Nixon is controlling him.
Nixon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Nixon gets to his feet and stands over Ankill, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Ankill felt that one! Nixon unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Ankill from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sterling Nixon!
Sterling Nixon decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
