Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andy Pukki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Arcuri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Pukki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Arcuri!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pukki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Arcuri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pukki somewhat.
Phil Arcuri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pukki tries to move into range but Arcuri moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Arcuri throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pukki sees it coming and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A combination from Arcuri does no damage.
Pukki half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Arcuri scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pukki sneaks back into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pukki tries to get to full guard but Arcuri has control of the leg.
Arcuri lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Pukki is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Arcuri scores with a couple of nice shots.
Arcuri working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Pukki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Arcuri looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Pukki is trying to get back to full guard.
Arcuri slips a nice elbow through Pukki's hands, connecting with Pukki's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arcuri looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pukki with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pukki manages to get to full guard.

Pukki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Arcuri defends well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pukki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pukki prevents Arcuri from improving his position.
Pukki looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Arcuri with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Arcuri looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Pukki really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pukki is trying to control. Arcuri wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Arcuri wants to get back to full guard but Pukki has mounted him!
Pukki lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Arcuri slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pukki prevents Arcuri from improving his position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Arcuri wants to control but Pukki is keeping busy.
Pukki slips a nice elbow through Arcuri's hands, connecting with Arcuri's forehead.
Arcuri is looking for a sweep. Pukki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pukki is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pukki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Arcuri makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Arcuri.
Pukki passes into half guard.
Pukki thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Arcuri's head.
Arcuri gets full guard.
Pukki postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Arcuri pulls Pukki in to control the position.
Pukki wants to control from the top but Arcuri keeps moving.
Arcuri is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pukki content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Arcuri looking for a sweep. Not yet Arcuri, not yet.
We've been hearing that Pukki has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Arcuri keeps trying to improve his position.
Pukki looking to pass the guard.

Pukki has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Arcuri to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Pukki is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Arcuri pulls down on the head and he's put Pukki to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Phil Arcuri!
