The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffman fails with the takedown
and Powers counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Powers lands with an overhand left.
Hoffman avoids a kick to the body.
Hoffman tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Powers looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Powers misses the shot to the body.
Hoffman was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Powers takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Hoffman gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Powers wants to break free but Hoffman has control.

Hoffman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Powers smiles and moves away.
Troy Powers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Albert Hoffman .

A looping hook to the body misses from Powers. Hoffman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hoffman goes for a double leg but Powers avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Powers continues to drive forward.
Hoffman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Powers's waist but Powers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hoffman off to one side.

Hoffman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hoffman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hoffman throws a strike but Powers avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Hoffman throws a strike but Powers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Powers wants to pass the guard but Hoffman is keeping the position.

Hoffman isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Powers stacks Hoffman on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Powers!
Hoffman is looking for a sweep.
Powers works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Hoffman gets back to half guard.
Powers prevents Hoffman from improving his position.

Hoffman is pressing down on Powers's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Powers wants to control from the top but Hoffman keeps moving.
Hoffman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Powers makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Hoffman has momentary wrist control but Powers slips an elbow through the middle.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hoffman has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Powers is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hoffman .

Hoffman avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Powers.

Powers is scoring with a succession of shots from the back. Hoffman is covering up - he's had enough and the ref steps in to end the fight!
