The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ferdinand as he jumps to the side.
Maynard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ferdinand scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Maynard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ferdinand pinned against the cage. Ferdinand gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Franz Ferdinand has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Maynard.

Maynard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ferdinand can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maynard had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ferdinand is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Maynard Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ferdinand's back instead.

Ferdinand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maynard on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Maynard gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

Ferdinand rolls, trying to escape but Maynard keeps control of the position.
Maynard is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Maynard gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Maynard gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Maynard apologises and we restart here on the feet.
No luck for Maynard with that takedown attempt.
Ferdinand lands a left and a right that sends Maynard crashing to the canvas! Ferdinand dives into mount looking to finish!
Ferdinand is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Maynard can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Maynard is bucking up trying to escape but Ferdinand cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Ferdinand lands a nice shot to the head.
Ferdinand postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Maynard badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Ferdinand around the waist but Ferdinand pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Ferdinand is the winner by TKO! Ferdinand jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
