The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega tries to bum rush BJJ with a series of wild strikes but BJJ uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
BJJ tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
BJJ throws out a loose jab but Ortega uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ortega misses with a series of wild punches.
Ortega thows a body shot but no joy.
BJJ jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Tito Ortega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ortega fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
BJJ takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
BJJ uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ortega.

BJJ postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

BJJ drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ortega looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ortega looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ortega!

It looks like Ortega is going to stand back up.

BJJ has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ortega is working away from the top position though.
BJJ has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
BJJ looks to throw the jab but Ortega is out of range.
BJJ shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ortega as he avoids it easily.

Ortega misses with a series of wild punches.
BJJ throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tito Ortega is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ortega throws a lazy right hand but BJJ sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
BJJ throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ortega sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ortega blocks a head kick by BJJ.
BJJ throws a front kick aimed at Ortega's knee but Ortega avoids it well.
BJJ fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ortega manages to avoid it.
Ortega scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Hilo BJJ has been cut.

letting BJJ counter with a right hand.
Ortega keeps the fight on the outside.
Ortega throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ortega misses with a series of wild punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tito Ortega will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ortega tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but BJJ was well out of range. Poor timing from Ortega.

Ortega parries the strikes from BJJ easily there. BJJ is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ortega to escape.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
BJJ wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ortega keeps working.

BJJ is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ortega is just riding it out for now. BJJ eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fight stays on the outside here - BJJ looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and BJJ makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Ortega throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ortega will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ortega's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
BJJ pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Ortega is squirming around, avoiding BJJ's attempts to control the action.

BJJ can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ortega is looking to escape.

Hilo BJJ comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think BJJ has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
