PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Sleeper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Rambler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jimmy Rambler was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Sleeper !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Rambler!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sleeper blocks a head kick by Rambler.
A shot to the body from Rambler misses
and Sleeper counters with a nice uppercut.
A head kick misses from Rambler.

Rambler drives through and clinches with Sleeper against the cage.
Rambler blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rambler keeps control of Sleeper as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rambler has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sleeper regains guard immediately.

Rambler is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rambler controlling from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rambler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rambler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sleeper is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Canadian Top Team that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Rambler postures up in Sleeper 's guard and throws a big left but Sleeper blocks it.
Sleeper utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rambler is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rambler closes the distance and clinches.
Rambler is trying to drag Sleeper to the mat but Sleeper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sleeper blocks an elbow strike.

Rambler gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Rambler is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sleeper wants to get back to his feet but Rambler passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rambler keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Rambler looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rambler seems to be looking for submissions.
Sleeper tries to kick Rambler off but Rambler keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've been informed that Rambler has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Sleeper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rambler on the ground.
Rambler wants to control but Sleeper is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sleeper is in trouble now - Rambler has advanced to mount!
Sleeper is squirming around, avoiding Rambler's attempts to control the action.
Sleeper has given up his back. Will we see Rambler going for some submissions?

Sleeper defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Rambler's arms.
Sleeper is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rambler has managed to slip his arm under Sleeper 's chin. This could be all over... yep, Sleeper is tapping out! Submission win for Rambler.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jimmy Rambler!
