Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between on no (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, on no!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeremy Wong!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wong enables no to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wong manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Wong is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Wong tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and no avoids it.

no breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
no tries to clinch there but Wong circles away.
no lands with a hook. Wong tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Wong gets tackled into the cage by no. no maintains the clinch.
no is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wong to keep the fight standing.
A frustrated look appears on no's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Wong prevents a takedown attempt there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wong can't break the clinch.

no has picked Wong up - he's going for a ride! no dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Wong kicks off no and gets to his feet.
no stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and no wants it to stay on the feet.

no tries to close the distance and clinch but Wong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Wong has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Wong tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
no defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wong.
no throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wong looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Wong gets tackled into the cage by no. no maintains the clinch.
no jumps guard but Wong turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for on no. That's going to take a lot out of him.

no pulls guard successfully.
no is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Feed'em To The Lions that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Wong sitting in guard, not really doing much.
It looks like Wong might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

no is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wong controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
no looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wong is looking to advance position but no has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

no could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wong keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wong gets back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
no looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
no throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Wong looking for submissions off his back.
Wong is holding on to half guard well.
Wong is continuing to stall.
no thows a huge punch but Wong dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that on no will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wong shoots in for a takedown but no shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Wong clinches up against the cage.

no breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
no avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
no avoids a kick to the body.
Wong tries to clinch there but no circles away.
Wong is looking to clinch.
Wong looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
no drops down looking for a counter takedown but Wong sprawls and moves away.

Wong closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into no's guard.
Wong is standing up over no. no looks to escape but Wong dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

no is trying to control Wong's posture but Wong avoids it.

Wong tries to move into full mount but can't pass no's legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
no is trying to get back to half guard.
no struggling a bit here.
Wong is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
no gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
no desperately trying to maintain half guard.
no is looking for a sweep. Wong is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wong seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

no looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Wong looks to land a strike but no avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Wong lands a couple of elbows.

Wong has gone for a leg lock! no slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wong's guard.

Wong bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in no's guard.

Wong makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
no keeping moving, preventing Wong from controlling successfully.
Wong preventing the sweep.
no controls Wong momentarily but Wong frees himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as no works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wong trying to control the position from guard on top but no is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jeremy Wong will probably get the nod - 10:9.

no swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
on no seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wong shoots for a double leg takedown but no sprawls well. He's pushed Wong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
no is looking to clinch.
A low kick from no misses

and Wong counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
no pushes Wong off looking to stand but Wong dives back in and keeps control.
Wong content to control rather than advance.
Wong prevents no from standing back up.

no has a hand on Wong's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Wong takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Wong looking to control but no is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
no tries to hold on but Wong pushes him away.
no is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Wong is landing with some decent strikes but no is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
no taking shots to the head.
Wong raining down shots from the mount!
no tries to hold on but Wong postures up.

no is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wong takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wong working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. no looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Wong! Submission of the night perhaps?
