Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zell Griever (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yokozuna Asashoryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
32 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zell Griever!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yokozuna Asashoryu!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griever moves out of range as Asashoryu strikes.
A head kick misses from Griever.
Griever misses the shot to the body.
Griever sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Asashoryu to the ground! Griever dives into full mount looking to finish!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Griever throwing strikes here but Asashoryu is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Griever tries to control but Asashoryu wriggling away.
Griever throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Asashoryu is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Asashoryu regains half guard.
Asashoryu told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Griever not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Griever sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Asashoryu defending well though.
Griever controlling the action here.
Asashoryu wants to improve his position but Griever is controlling well.

Asashoryu blocking the ground and pound attempt from Griever.
Griever slows the pace down in half guard.
Griever throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Asashoryu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Asashoryu avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Griever.
Griever not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griever missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Griever is trying to control the action in half guard but Asashoryu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Griever sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Asashoryu defending well though.
Asashoryu is trying to control but can't.
Griever is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Asashoryu sees it coming and defends easily.
Asashoryu pushes Griever off looking to stand but Griever dives back in and keeps control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Griever escapes and gets back to his feet.
Griever lands a leg kick that knocks Asashoryu off balance momentarily.
Asashoryu misses with a left hand
letting Griever counter with a right hand.
Griever pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And Asashoryu responds with a good body kick, but Griever manages to step out the way in time.
Asashoryu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Griever lands a stunning uppercut that sends Asashoryu to the mat!
Asashoryu is rocked!
Griever lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Asashoryu quite badly. Asashoryu pulls Griever in close trying to recover. Griever postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Asashoryu on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Asashoryu doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zell Griever!
After winning the bout, Zell Griever thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
