Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kent Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent Ortega has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kent Ortega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Williams!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams moves in looking to clinch but Ortega pushes him off.
Williams blocks a head kick by Ortega.
Williams shoots in but no luck this time.

Williams shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Williams showed some decent athleticism there.
Williams works his foot free and advances to mount.
Williams trying to control but Ortega is having none of it.
Williams sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Ortega really wants to buck Williams off and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee warns Ortega that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Williams lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ortega's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Williams misses with a head shot.

Williams looking for a guillotine from mount but Ortega is having none of it.
Ortega on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ortega tries to get out of the position.

Ortega is squirming around, avoiding Williams's attempts to control the action.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Williams cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Ortega wants to try and get back to his feet.
Williams lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Williams connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ortega is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Williams is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ortega has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Ortega misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ortega throws a leg kick but Williams moved away.

Williams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ortega's guard.

Williams perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Williams throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Williams is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Williams prevents Ortega from standing back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Williams is working for a kimura but Ortega is defending it quite comfortably.
Ortega tries to kick Williams off in order to stand up. Williams Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Williams is looking to take a break and control but Ortega is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Williams tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Williams sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ortega is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Williams tries to move to mount but Ortega blocks the move with his legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ortega throws a head kick that misses.
No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Williams will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Williams is breathing heavily.
Williams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kent Ortega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Williams.
Ortega clinches but Williams breaks the clinch

and Williams counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Williams.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ortega's waist but Ortega gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side.
Ortega pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Williams avoids the head kick by Ortega.
Ortega wants to clinch.
Ortega tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Williams holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Ortega breaks from the clinch.
Ortega throws a sloppy head kick and Williams moves out of range easily.
Ortega misses with a few strikes there.
Kent Ortega is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ortega keeps the fight on the outside.
A head kick misses from Ortega.
Williams misses with a few strikes there.
Ortega tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Williams scores with a takedown into Ortega's guard.
David Williams has got the better of the ground game so far.

Williams stands and steps away. Ortega gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Williams counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Williams fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Ortega tries to clinch up but Williams circles away and keeps his distance.
Ortega scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Williams doesn't seem bothered though.

Ortega gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Williams goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ortega is on top in guard.

Kent Ortega has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Williams seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Williams tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Williams is controlling Ortega's posture.
Ortega is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Williams trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Ortega wants to stand and escape but instead Williams has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

David Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Williams winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
