Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Miesha Tate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Julles Martins!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tate looking to score a takedown here. Martins is defending well but Tate drives through and ends up in Martins's guard.

Tate is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Martins is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Martins has escaped and now he's on top!


Tate is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Tate is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Tate is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Martins defends well.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Martins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Martins throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tate looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Martins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tate has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martins has managed to get both his arms back between Tate's legs - danger averted.
My spies in ReEvolution MMA inform me that Martins has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Martins avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Tate has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tate working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Martins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Martins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tate has his foot on Martins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martins works his way back into a safe position though.

Martins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tate swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tate had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Martins defends it easily.
Martins throwing strikes from guard but Tate blocks nicely.

Tate is looking for a triangle but Martins pushes his legs off easily.
Martins throwing strikes but missing.
Martins passes Tate's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Tate works his way to full guard. Good work.
Martins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Tate is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Martins is aware though and is defending well.

Tate working for a triangle but Martins defends it easily.
Martins trying to control but Tate is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tate looking for subs off his back but Martins has passed one foot through into half guard.
Tate is trying to get back to full guard.
Tate slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Martins trying to control the position from guard on top but Tate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Martins lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miesha Tate dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Tate is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Martins's half guard.

Tate is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Martins sees it coming and defends easily.
Martins tries to roll over but Tate keeps him under control.

Tate is looking for a kimura but Martins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tate to get the leverage.
Tate is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martins can do to turn this around?

Tate in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Martins tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Tate!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Miesha Tate!
An out of breath Miesha Tate thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Julles Martins stepped up to the mic, saying 'error'.
