PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dallas Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Szczevnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jan Szczevnikov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dallas Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jan Szczevnikov!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szczevnikov dodges the punch combination from Bond.
Szczevnikov throws a hook to the side of Bond's head but Bond sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Bond moves into the clinch successfully.
Szczevnikov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bond is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Szczevnikov's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Bond tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Bond landing knees to the body.
Bond makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Bond throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Szczevnikov blocks it with crossed arms.
Szczevnikov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dallas Bond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Szczevnikov.

Bond is fighting off a takedown attempt but Szczevnikov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bond to the mat. Bond regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Szczevnikov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bond gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bond is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bond has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bond stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Szczevnikov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bond drops Szczevnikov with a left and a right! Oh, Szczevnikov is hurt - Bond dives into side control looking to finish!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bond is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Szczevnikov's shoulder. That is not cool.
Szczevnikov is still in real trouble! Can Bond finish him?
Szczevnikov is not content to let Bond control the position.
Szczevnikov seems to have recovered his senses.

Bond tries to move to mount but Szczevnikov blocks the move with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bond takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bond wants to lay and pray for a moment but Szczevnikov keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A short body shot lands from Bond as the two fighters clinch.
Bond digs a right hand into Szczevnikov's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Szczevnikov's gas tank.

Szczevnikov celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
