PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fatboy Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Tom Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stanley has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tom Tom Stanley!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Stanley with that takedown attempt.
Stanley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stanley wants it to stay on the feet.

Barnes has taken the fight to the clinch.

Barnes breaks from the clinch.
Barnes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Stanley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Barnes throws a right and a left that Stanley avoids nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Barnes enables Stanley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barnes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Barnes has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Stanley is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Barnes breaks the clinch.

Stanley tries for a takedown but Barnes manages to get underhooks.
Stanley jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Barnes walks away with a smile on his face. Stanley gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Fatboy Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Tom Stanley.
Nice takedown defense from Stanley. No joy for Barnes on that attempt.
Stanley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Stanley tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Barnes defends well and Stanley ends up having to push Barnes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Barnes or perhaps it was just good defense by Stanley, which made it look bad.

Barnes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stanley circles away quickly and effectively.
Fatboy Barnes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stanley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Barnes, pushing him back against the cage.
Barnes tries to pull guard but Stanley won't allow it.
Barnes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Stanley manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Barnes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Barnes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Barnes drops back looking for a leg! Stanley is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stanley manages to kick Barnes off! Barnes jumps back into Stanley's guard.

Barnes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stanley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Barnes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Barnes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Barnes checks a leg kick.
Barnes darts in looking for a takedown but Stanley gets double underhooks and turns Barnes into the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Stanley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fatboy Barnes will probably get the nod.
That's time! Barnes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Stanley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Barnes circles away.

Stanley goes for a double leg but Barnes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barnes continues to drive forward.
Stanley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barnes tries to avoid it but Stanley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barnes to the ground. Barnes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stanley can do anything to dispel that myth.
