Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarrett Steele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Igor Kalashnikov!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalashnikov throws a series of punches but Steele moves out of range.
Kalashnikov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Steele scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Steele fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kalashnikov sprawls well initially but Steele persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kalashnikov has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Steele is on him like a limpet, forcing Kalashnikov back against the cage.
Steele is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Kalashnikov manages to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Steele accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Steele decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kalashnikov, up you get!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kalashnikov instigates a clinch.
Kalashnikov has had enough of the clinch but Steele keeps him there for the moment.
Steele tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Kalashnikov is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Steele jumps guard but Kalashnikov stands there with Steele around his waist. Steele gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kalashnikov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Steele.
Kalashnikov blocks an elbow strike.
Steele lands a knee to the head.
Steele changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kalashnikov fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Kalashnikov fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Steele checks it well.
Steele is looking to counter with a body kick.
Kalashnikov misses with a few strikes there.
Steele attempts a counter takedown but Kalashnikov avoids it well and moves away.

Kalashnikov leaves Steele with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Steele connects with a nasty looking knee right to Kalashnikov's face.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steele jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kalashnikov walks away with a smile on his face. Steele gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Steele really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Steele closes the distance and clinches up with Kalashnikov, looking for a takedown. Steele pushes Kalashnikov against the cage but Kalashnikov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Steele fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kalashnikov wants to counter the offense by Steele and move into the clinch position.
Kalashnikov throws a right hand that Steele ducks under and follows up with a left that Steele also avoids with ease.

Steele's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Steele manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kalashnikov on his heels. He'll look to pass Kalashnikov's guard now, I'm sure.

Kalashnikov uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Kalashnikov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kalashnikov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Steele dives in and grabs Kalashnikov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kalashnikov pushes down on Steele's head and hops out.

and Steele decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kalashnikov's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kalashnikov throws a nice looking combination but Steele bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Steele avoids a punch combination nicely.
Steele was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Igor Kalashnikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kalashnikov wants to stand up but Steele is controlling him.

Steele is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Steele won't allow Kalashnikov to get back to his feet.

Steele will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Steele decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Steele shoots for a takedown but Kalashnikov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

As Kalashnikov tries to get set, Steele tries to push him back and clinch up but Kalashnikov manages to avoid the attempt.
Kalashnikov throws the kick towards the body but Steele avoids it.
Steele drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kalashnikov sprawls and moves away.
Kalashnikov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kalashnikov wants it to stay on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jarrett Steele.
I think Kalashnikov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
