The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slutskaya misses with a hook. Griffin ducked under it nicely.
Griffin jabs Slutskaya right on the nose. Slutskaya blinks but takes it well.
Griffin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Griffin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Slutskaya is looking to clinch.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Griffin!
Slutskaya tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Slutskaya drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Griffin is looking to regain half guard here but Slutskaya keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin is trying to buck Slutskaya off.
Slutskaya is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ground and pound from Slutskaya seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Slutskaya throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Griffin prevents Slutskaya from improving position.
Griffin is not content to let Slutskaya control the position.
Slutskaya has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Griffin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Slutskaya looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

A left lands for Griffin.
Griffin thuds his right hand into Slutskaya's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Slutskaya is rocked!
Griffin cracks Slutskaya with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Slutskaya tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Griffin pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Slutskaya is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
