Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ezra Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Pittman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pittman is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Nirvana - Aero Zeppelin. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ezra Pound!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Pittman!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

letting Pittman counter with a right hand.

Pittman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pound is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pound changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pittman tries to avoid it but Pound manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pittman to the ground. Pittman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Pittman takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Pittman is looking to regain half guard here but Pound keeps moving and retains side control.

Pittman tries to bum rush Pound with a series of wild strikes but Pound uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pound has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pittman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Pound gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pittman regains guard.
Pound postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Pound looking to sit in guard and control but Pittman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pound escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pittman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pound is on top in guard.

Pound is taking a breather. Pittman says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Pittman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pound seems to be working for a kimura but Pittman defends the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pittman in particular looking to stall.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ezra Pound.
I think Pound has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
