PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Colton Pallanck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshuah Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colton Pallanck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshuah Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pallanck shoots in and bounces Robertson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Robertson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Pallanck drops back looking for a leg! Robertson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Robertson manages to kick Pallanck off! Pallanck jumps back into Robertson's guard.
Pallanck not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Pallanck wants to stand but Robertson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pallanck distracts Robertson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Pallanck wants to control from the top but Robertson keeps moving.

Pallanck decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Robertson, up you get!
Pallanck wants to clinch up but Robertson keeps it at a distance.

Pallanck looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Robertson looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pallanck stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Robertson to get to his feet.

Pallanck is really struggling to control Robertson but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Robertson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Pallanck.

Pallanck is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Pallanck closes the distance and clinches.

Pallanck closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pallanck lands an elbow inside that Robertson shrugs off.

Robertson prevents the takedown attempt.

Pallanck has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Robertson regains guard immediately.

Robertson pulls Pallanck in to control the position.
Pallanck throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pallanck controls from within his opponent's guard.
Robertson has momentary wrist control but Pallanck slips an elbow through the middle.
Robertson is trying to control the position but Pallanck postures up.

Robertson wants to stand but Pallanck is controlling the position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Pallanck drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pallanck gets to his feet - Robertson follows without any prompting.
Pallanck tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Robertson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Pallanck shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pallanck was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pallanck scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Pallanck avoids the attempt from Robertson to control.
Pallanck pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Pallanck takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Robertson is squirming around, avoiding Pallanck's attempts to control the action.
Pallanck looking to control and managing it successfully.

Pallanck stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Pallanck is looking to clinch but Robertson is avoiding it.
No joy there for Pallanck, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Robertson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pallanck tries to avoid it but Robertson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pallanck to the ground. Pallanck escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pallanck tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Robertson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pallanck shoots for a double leg takedown but Robertson sprawls well. He's pushed Pallanck's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Colton Pallanck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pallanck swats away the attempt to clinch by Robertson.
Robertson wants to clinch up but Pallanck keeps it at a distance.

Pallanck has managed to clinch.

Pallanck breaks the clinch.

Robertson rushes Pallanck and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Pallanck manages to break the clinch.

Pallanck tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Robertson swivels and escapes.

and Pallanck counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Robertson!

BOOM! Pallanck connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Robertson tries to lock up and control but Pallanck gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Robertson is working to get back to half guard.
Robertson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Robertson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Robertson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Pallanck tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Pallanck is just content to waste time from the top position. Robertson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Robertson is looking to stand up but Pallanck isn't so interested in that idea.

Robertson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pallanck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colton Pallanck dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Robertson throws a strike but Pallanck rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pallanck is in close to Robertson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Pallanck gets to his feet - Robertson follows without any prompting.
Pallanck stuffs the takedown attempt from Robertson. Robertson gets slowly back to his feet.

Pallanck shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Robertson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Robertson wants to sweep but no luck.
Pallanck postures up.

Robertson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Robertson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Robertson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Pallanck to take his back!
Pallanck is trapped and Robertson is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Pallanck wants to control his opponent's hands but Robertson gets his hands free.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Robertson is striking from the back but Pallanck escapes and manages to recover to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Robertson takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Colton Pallanck showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Pallanck has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
