Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Shaun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaun has chosen The Soviettes - "#1 Is Number Two" as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Pounder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Shaun!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaun moves in looking to clinch but Pounder pushes him off.
The fighters circling - Pounder throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Pounder swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Pounder misses with a wild combination.
Pounder throws a big shot that misses.
Shaun avoids the body shot from Pounder.
Shaun showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pounder.

Shaun fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pounder, pushing him back against the cage.
Shaun has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pounder is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pounder lands with a light punch inside.
Shaun fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Shaun jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pounder walks away with a smile on his face. Shaun gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Robert Pounder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Shaun.
Horrible takedown by Pounder or perhaps it was just good defense by Shaun which made him look bad.
Pounder throws a series of punches but Shaun moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pounder uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shaun has time to react.
Shaun slips a straight right by Pounder.
Pounder smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Pounder throws a lazy right hand but Shaun sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Shaun fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pounder sprawls well initially but Shaun persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pounder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shaun throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Shaun is working for a submission of some sort.

Shaun decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Pounder throws a hook but Shaun avoids it easily.
Pounder thows a body shot but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pounder looks to clinch

and Shaun counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shaun.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pounder is trying to keep Shaun in close.
Shaun trying to control the position from guard on top but Pounder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Pounder is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shaun blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pounder.
Pounder seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Pounder is breathing heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pounder lands a nice short elbow.

Shaun looking for submissions off his back.
Pounder takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Shaun has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pounder is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shaun is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Pounder is tapping! Great win for Shaun!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mark Shaun!
