PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dana White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Durrant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dana White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Durrant!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Ben Hemmingworth and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Durrant but Durrant pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Durrant shoots for a double leg takedown but White sprawls well. He's pushed Durrant's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dana White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
White is looking to clinch.
White shoots in but no luck this time.
White shoots in looking for a takedown but Durrant manages to keep the fight standing, pushing White's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As White backs off Durrant throws a huge counter combo but White manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dana White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White wants to clinch but Durrant slips to the side
and Durrant counters with a right hand to the body.
White takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A looping hook to the body misses from Durrant. White does a little dance to reset his feet.
White appears to be looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White keeps Durrant at a distance using the push kick.
Durrant delivers a nice body kick.

White fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Durrant, pushing him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

White breaks from the clinch.

White decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Durrant is positioning himself well to prevent White advancing to mount.

Durrant kicks off White and gets to his feet.
Durrant misses the shot to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from White.
Durrant unleashes a big counter combination but White bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Durrant shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts White as he jumps to the side.

White darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Durrant tries to get to full guard but White has control of the leg.
Durrant keeps trying to improve his position.
Durrant is positioning himself well to prevent White advancing to mount.
Durrant is continuing to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Durrant is concentrating on defense, preventing White from advancing position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Durrant is not content to let White control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
White doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Durrant counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Durrant fails with an attempt to clinch.
White tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Durrant paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Durrant tries to counter with a clinch but White shakes him off and moves away.
Durrant thuds his shin into the meat of White's side.
White is breathing heavily.
White looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Durrant fails with the takedown

and White counters by moving into the clinch.
Durrant goes for a takedown attempt but White pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Durrant darts in looking for a takedown but White gets double underhooks and turns Durrant into the cage.
White shoots in for a takedown but Durrant shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Durrant misses with a two punch combination.
Durrant avoids a kick to the body.
A head kick misses from Durrant.
Durrant lands a jab-cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darren Durrant dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Durrant closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. White quickly recovers to half guard.
White controlling the position for now.
Durrant with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

White is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Durrant has latched onto it... Big trouble! Durrant pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it White is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Durrant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Darren Durrant!
