Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Owen Leidner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Eddles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Owen Leidner has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Owen Leidner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Simon Eddles!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eddles closes this distance looking for a takedown but Leidner circles away.
Leidner looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Eddles misses with a takedown attempt - Leidner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Leidner appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Eddles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Owen Leidner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Eddles.
Eddles misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Eddles has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Eddles.
Eddles throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leidner's waist but Leidner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eddles off to one side.
Eddles tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Leidner defends well and Eddles ends up having to push Leidner into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Leidner fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Leidner pulls guard successfully.
Eddles is stalling in the full guard.
Leidner looking for a sweep. Not yet Leidner, not yet.
Eddles trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Leidner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Eddles controls the pace.

Leidner working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Eddles.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Eddles shoots for a double leg takedown but Leidner sprawls well. He's pushed Eddles's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Leidner is looking for a counter combo.
Nice takedown defense from Leidner. No joy for Eddles on that attempt.
Leidner appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Eddles stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Eddles wants it to stay on the feet.

Eddles forces Leidner back against the cage and clinches.
Eddles drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Leidner gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Eddles jumps into guard, dragging Leidner to the mat.

Eddles is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Leidner defends well.
Eddles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eddles is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Leidner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Leidner throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Eddles pushes Leidner off and gets back to his feet.
Eddles shoots in for a takedown but Leidner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Eddles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Eddles pulls guard successfully.

Leidner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Eddles has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leidner has managed to get both his arms back between Eddles's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leidner wants to stand and escape but instead Eddles has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Eddles is pushing down on Leidner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Leidner is fighting to maintain full guard but Eddles has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Eddles dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Eddles changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leidner tries to avoid it but Eddles manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leidner to the ground. Leidner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A quick step to the side and Leidner tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Eddles looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leidner is fending him off so far but Eddles persists. Nope, Leidner circles away and we're back to standing.
Leidner has a takedown stuffed.
Eddles looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Eddles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Eddles moves into the clinch.

Eddles jumps guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Eddles is on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eddles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Eddles postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Eddles controls from within his opponent's guard.
Eddles is continuing to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leidner is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Eddles controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Eddles gets to his feet. Leidner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Leidner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Leidner gets tackled into the cage by Eddles. Eddles maintains the clinch.

Eddles breaks the clinch.
Eddles dives in for a single leg takedown but Leidner sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Eddles misses with a head kick.

Leidner appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Eddles dives in and grabs Leidner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Leidner pushes down on Eddles's head and hops out.
Eddles has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Leidner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Eddles napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've been hearing that Leidner has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Leidner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Leidner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Leidner wants to stand but Eddles has his arm trapped.
Eddles can't do much from the bottom here.

Leidner tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Eddles prevents Leidner from moving into mount.
Eddles struggling a bit here.
Eddles is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Leidner off and has taken his back!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Leidner is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Eddles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Leidner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Eddles.
Eddles throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
The crowd cheers as Leidner lands an impressive looking overhand right. Eddles doesn't seem phased though.
Eddles fails with a takedown attempt.
Eddles tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Leidner swivels and escapes.
Owen Leidner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Eddles.
Leidner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Eddles avoids it really well and circles away.

Leidner has Eddles pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Eddles manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Eddles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Eddles has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Leidner tries to pull guard but Eddles forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Eddles jumps guard and drags Leidner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Eddles is pulling down on Leidner's head. It's preventing any offense from Leidner, at least for the moment.
Eddles is trying to keep Leidner in close.

Leidner throws a big elbow that misses.
Leidner stands and throws Eddles's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Eddles is not content to let Leidner control the position.

Eddles is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Leidner's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Eddles is trying to control but can't.
Eddles makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Eddles.
Eddles thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Leidner wants to control from the top but Eddles keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Eddles closes the distance and clinches.
Eddles is trying to pull guard but Leidner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Leidner is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Eddles is defending well.

Eddles has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Leidner is trying to keep an underhook but Eddles manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Simon Eddles.
I've got Eddles winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
