Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kong Su han (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Rza - Samurai Showdown kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kong Su han had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 28 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kong Su han!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jose Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Santiago closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Su han is trying to control Santiago's posture but Santiago avoids it.
Su han might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Su han regains half guard there - taking advantage of Santiago's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Santiago working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Su han tries to kick Santiago off but Santiago keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Santiago lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Santiago is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Su han doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Santiago.
Santiago wants to free his trapped foot but Su han is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Su han wants to control but Santiago is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Santiago is pressing down on Su han's thigh, looking to free his foot. Su han is holding on for now.
Su han trying to get back to full guard but Santiago takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Santiago has hold of Su han's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Su han manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Santiago unloads with some shots from mount but Su han bucks and avoids them well.

Santiago sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Santiago is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Su han is surviving well by controlling Santiago's body position as best he can.

Su han avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Su han wants to sweep here but Santiago controlling him for the moment.
Santiago tries to free his leg and advance position but Su han is retaining full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Su han throws a head kick that misses.

Su han moves into the clinch.
Santiago is trying to drag Su han to the mat but Su han just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Su han using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Santiago has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Santiago scores with a shoulder strike.
Santiago has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Su han after a bit of a struggle.

Su han pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Su han moves out of range of the body kick.
A big left from Su han misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Su han tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Santiago closes this distance looking for a takedown but Su han circles away.
Kong Su han has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Santiago.
Santiago throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Santiago connects with a leg kick. Su han looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Santiago has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Su han.
Santiago fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Su han checks it well.
Kong Su han is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Santiago scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Su han tries to roll over but Santiago keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santiago is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Su han has managed to free his arm - good work.
Santiago passes to side control.
Santiago throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Santiago is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Su han knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Our winner, Jose Santiago, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
