PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Etiene Salire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pei Mei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pei Mei told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Etiene Salire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pei Mei!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mei misses the jab.
Mei misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Salire.
Salire misses with a few strikes there.
Mei looks to land a combination but Salire avoids it well.
Salire attempts a counter takedown but Mei avoids it well and moves away.
Mei misses with an uppercut
and Salire counters with a two punch combo.
The fighters circling - Mei throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mei shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salire pinned against the cage. Salire gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A head kick from Salire lands but Mei takes it in his stride.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salire tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mei manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mei takes a swing at Salire's ribcage but misses.

Salire shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mei napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mei gets back to half guard.

Mei is staying active underneath Salire, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Salire is stalling here. Mei is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Salire seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mei has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Salire is pushing Mei's head away, looking to escape. Mei manages to hold on to the position though.
A control attempt from Salire but he's now mounted!
Mei takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Salire is squirming around, avoiding Mei's attempts to control the action.

Salire tries to hold on but Mei pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
