Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam Bourque!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
47 - 28 - 3, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Javier Gattuso!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bourque cracks Gattuso with an open hand slap.
Gattuso with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Javier Gattuso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice body punch from Bourque.
Gattuso will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Gattuso misses with an uppercut. Bourque saw that one coming.
Bourque was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Bourque throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gattuso stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bourque stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gattuso.
Gattuso fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bourque on the side of the head.
Nice shot by Gattuso.
Gattuso misses with a shot to the body
and Bourque counters with a straight right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bourque swings widly with a right hand
and Gattuso counters with a thumping low kick.
Gattuso tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bourque was well out of range. Poor timing from Gattuso.
Gattuso misses with a low kick as Bourque jumps back.
Bourque throwing a counter right hand but Gattuso manages to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gattuso throws a right hand that misses
and Bourque connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gattuso has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gattuso throws a head kick that Bourque semi-blocks.
The fighters circling - Bourque throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gattuso throws a nice looking combination but Bourque bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bourque scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Javier Gattuso has been cut.
Gattuso tries a head kick but it misses.
Bourque lands a jab to the nose.
Gattuso's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bourque connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gattuso scrambles back to his feet.
Gattuso is rocked!
Gattuso misses with a hook
and Bourque counters with a big left hand that crumples Gattuso! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
