Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Verk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Miggle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dominick Verk has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominick Verk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, AJ Miggle!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Verk has taken the fight to the clinch.

Verk breaks the clinch.
Miggle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Verk sprawls well. Verk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miggle gets slowly back to his feet.
Miggle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Verk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Miggle sprawls well initially but Verk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Miggle kicks Verk off and gets back to his feet.

Verk gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Verk jumps into guard, dragging Miggle to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miggle trying to control the position from guard on top but Verk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Verk lands a decent shot there.
Miggle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Verk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Verk wants to sweep here but Miggle controlling him for the moment.

Verk keeping moving, preventing Miggle from controlling successfully.
Verk is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Miggle throws a head kick but Verk moves out of range.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Miggle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Miggle showed some decent athleticism there.
Verk is refusing to be controlled, as Miggle sits in half guard.
Miggle stops Verk from getting back to his feet.
Verk throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Miggle trying to mount his opponent but Verk defends it.
Verk makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Verk.

Verk looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Verk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Miggle's guard.

Verk is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Verk lands a couple of elbows.
Verk not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Verk's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Verk passes Miggle's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Verk lands strikes from half guard.

Verk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Verk seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Miggle for as long as he can get away with.

Verk seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Miggle wants to clinch.

Miggle gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Verk to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Verk not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verk advances to half guard.
Verk performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Verk works his way into side control.
Verk is chipping away with strikes.
Miggle tries to improve position but can't.

Verk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Verk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Verk lands some shots froms side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Verk controls the position from side control.

Verk stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Miggle fails with the takedown.

Verk shoots in and bounces Miggle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Miggle wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Verk manages to pass to side control.
Dominick Verk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Miggle is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Verk is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Verk stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Verk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miggle, pushing him back against the cage.

Verk manages to pull guard.
Verk tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Verk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Miggle's guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miggle working a defensive guard but Verk manages to pass into side control anyway.
Miggle struggling a bit here.

Verk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Verk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Verk cracks Miggle with a big right hand but Miggle just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dominick Verk dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Verk clinches up against the cage.

Miggle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Verk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miggle, pushing him back against the cage.
Verk stalling against the cage.
Miggle tries to pull guard but Verk won't allow it.
Miggle is trying to force a seperation but Verk has the dominant position.
Verk fails to pull guard.
Miggle tries to break free but Verk pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Miggle breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Verk is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Miggle can do to turn this around?
A head kick misses from Verk.
Miggle takes a kick to the side of the head.
Miggle shoots in looking for a takedown. Verk tries to sprawl out of it but Miggle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Verk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A combination from Verk does no damage.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Verk.

Verk forces Miggle back against the cage and clinches.
Miggle has had enough of the clinch but Verk keeps him there for the moment.
Miggle tries to break free but Verk pushes him back against the cage.

Verk manages to break the clinch.
Verk scores with a kick to the body.
Miggle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Verk turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Miggle is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miggle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Despite the aggression on Miggle's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Verk pushes Miggle up against the cage in a clinch.
Miggle working hard to break the clinch.

Verk decides to pull guard.
Verk is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Verk wants to sweep but no luck.
Verk keeping moving, preventing Miggle from controlling successfully.
Verk tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Verk is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Miggle frees his head nicely. Oh but Verk has switched to an armbar! Miggle is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
