Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Ballard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luke Tyson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abraham Ballard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luke Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Tyson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ballard is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ballard has escaped and now he's on top!


Tyson has his feet on Ballard's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Ballard shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Tyson manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tyson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tyson.

Ballard explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Tyson throws a head kick but Ballard moves out of range.
Ballard went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Ballard gets caught flat footed, as Tyson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ballard uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tyson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Tyson wants to control but Ballard is keeping him busy.
Ballard controls the position for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tyson tries to advance to mount but Ballard instead regains half guard.
Ballard wants to improve his position but Tyson is controlling well.
Tyson tries to pass to full mount but Ballard defends it.

Ballard is defending against the submission attempts here by Tyson.
Tyson works his way into full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tyson wants to control the pace but Ballard is squirming around nicely.
Tyson thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Ballard sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Tyson winds up and cracks Ballard with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tyson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ballard keeps working.
Tyson wants to pass to mount but Ballard is defending the position.

Tyson wants to free his trapped foot but Ballard is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Tyson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ballard defending well though.
Tyson is keen to just control but Ballard is a slippery customer.
Ballard keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Tyson trying to control from Ballard's half guard. Ballard has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Luke Tyson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ballard slips a jab and a cross from Tyson.
As Tyson looks to move away, Ballard throws a big counter combo but Tyson just gets out of the way.

Tyson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tyson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ballard is keeping the position for now.

Ballard working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Tyson has passed into half guard!

Tyson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ballard sees it coming and defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ballard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tyson is working away from the top position though.
Tyson works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tyson has hold of Ballard's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ballard manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ballard is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Tyson locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Ballard is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Luke Tyson!
