Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Garcon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Kawada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawada gets tackled into the cage by Garcon. Garcon maintains the clinch.
Kawada is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Kawada fails to pull guard.
Garcon gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Kawada jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Garcon walks away with a smile on his face. Kawada gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pierre Garcon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keiji Kawada.
Garcon fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kawada.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Garcon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Garcon manages to end up in side control.

Garcon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Garcon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kawada pushes Garcon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Garcon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kawada lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Garcon circles away quickly and effectively.

Garcon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
