PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reeves has chosen Hells Bells as his entrance music. The key to victory for Charlie Tyson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charlie Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Reeves!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reeves shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tyson is trying to defend but Reeves finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Still in half guard, Reeves seems content to control.

Reeves is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tyson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Reeves.
Tyson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reeves looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Reeves blocks the strikes from Tyson.
Reeves content to control rather than advance.

Reeves's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Tyson trying to control but Reeves postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tyson is looking to get back to full guard here but Reeves has managed to pass to side control instead.
Tyson tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Tyson tries to hold on but Reeves pushes him away.
Tyson manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Tyson wants to control but Reeves is keeping busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reeves in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

It looks like Reeves might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Tyson is trying to control Reeves's posture but Reeves avoids it.
Reeves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tyson keeps working.
Tyson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Reeves connects with a decent elbow.
Reeves connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Tyson some visible discomfort.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Tyson really is a fat lump.
Reeves wants to control but Tyson is keeping him busy.
Tyson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Reeves trying to control the position but Tyson is working away.

Reeves is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tyson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Tyson wants to get back to his feet.

Tyson looking for a sweep but Reeves has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Reeves connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reeves landing punches.
Reeves can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tyson is looking to escape.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Reeves feints and as Tyson raises his hands in defense, Reeves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tyson keeping moving, preventing Reeves from controlling successfully.
Reeves engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Reeves postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tyson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Tyson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reeves defends well.

Tyson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Reeves passes into half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Reeves controlling the position easily from mount.

Reeves cracks Tyson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Reeves has hold of Tyson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tyson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Reeves with shots to the head and body - Tyson looks very uncomfortable down there.

Tyson tries to reverse the position but Reeves maintains control.
Reeves is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tyson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Reeves content just to control the position here.
Reeves lands with some strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tyson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Tyson is rocked!
Reeves looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Tyson covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Reeves!
Post fight, Steve Reeves took to the microphone: 'I'm a rolling thunder, a pouring rain I'm comin' on like a hurricane'.
