Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Ryun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicki Bresler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bresler misses with a head kick.
Bresler throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Bresler moves into range and clinches up with Ryun.

Bresler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ryun tries to clinch but Bresler moves out of range.
A left and a right from Bresler both land. Nice combination.

Bresler closes the distance and pushes Ryun back into the cage.
Ryun jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bresler walks away with a smile on his face. Ryun gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bresler checks a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Bresler, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ryun pushes Bresler up against the cage in a clinch.
Ryun wants a takedown.
Bresler gets underhooks to prevent Ryun's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Ryun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ryun breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bresler jabs Ryun right on the nose. Ryun blinks but takes it well.
Bresler scores with a jab to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Bresler. No joy for Ryun on that attempt.
Bresler is looking for the big counter here.
Ryun tries to clinch there but Bresler circles away.
Bresler changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bresler tries a head kick but it misses.

and Bresler counters with a stiff right hand.

Bresler rushes Ryun and presses him up against the cage.
Ryun drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bresler gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bresler wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ryun has him pressed against the cage.

Ryun tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bresler smiles and moves away.
Nicki Bresler is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ryun tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bresler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ryun takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bresler misses with a combination

and Ryun moves into the clinch.
Ryun lands a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bresler is struggling to control the position.
Bresler wants to get back to striking at distance but Ryun won't allow it.

Ryun breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bresler throws a series of punches but Ryun moves out of range.
Bresler throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ryun stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bresler clobbers Ryun with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Bresler swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ryun tries for a takedown but Bresler circles away easily
and Bresler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bresler fails to land with a series of punches.
Ryun lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bresler at a distance.

Bresler darts in and clinches Ryun up against the cage.
Bresler prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ryun is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Ryun tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bresler just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ryun jumps guard and drags Bresler to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bresler gets to his feet - Ryun follows without any prompting.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bresler with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Ryun has a takedown stuffed.
Bresler jabs Ryun to the body, keeping him at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicki Bresler dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Bresler moves into range and clinches up with Ryun.
Bresler looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Ryun gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bresler regains guard.
Ryun has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ryun passes Bresler's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bresler controlling the position for now.
Ryun is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Bresler wants to hold on but Ryun pushes him away.

Bresler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Bresler has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bresler is looking to improve his position but Ryun isn't that keen on the idea.

Ryun goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bresler is on top in guard.

Ryun looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ryun looking for a guillotine here but Bresler defends easily.

Bresler advances to half guard.
Bresler content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Ryun is trying to control but Bresler passes into side control!
Ryun is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ryun tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Bresler easily slips into full mount!
Ryun tries to improve his position but instead Bresler has taken his back!
Ryun tries to break free.
Bresler trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Ryun doesn't escape.
