These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lyle Nicholson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Nicholson on that attempt.
Nicholson wants to clinch.
Nicholson walks into a stiff left hand from Johnson.


It looks like Lyle Nicholson has been cut.
Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Nicholson counter with a right hand.
A punch lands to the side of Nicholson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nicholson really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nicholson darts in and clinches Johnson up against the cage.
Nicholson keeps control of Johnson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Nicholson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Nicholson holds on and takes a little breather.
Johnson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Johnson wants to stand but Nicholson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Johnson throws a right hand that Nicholson ducks under and follows up with a left that Nicholson also avoids with ease.
Nicholson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Nicholson counter with a right hand.

Nicholson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Johnson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Nicholson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nicholson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Nicholson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Johnson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Nicholson uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Nicholson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Nicholson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nicholson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nicholson off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyle Nicholson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nicholson rushes Johnson and presses him up against the cage.
Nicholson is trying to force a seperation but Johnson has the dominant position.
Johnson prevents Nicholson from breaking the clinch.
Nicholson is trying to break free.
Johnson stalling.

Johnson breaks the clinch.
Nicholson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Johnson rushes Nicholson and presses him up against the cage.
Nicholson jumps guard but Johnson stands there with Nicholson around his waist. Nicholson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Johnson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicholson moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.

and Nicholson moves into the clinch.

Johnson is trying to escape back to his feet but Nicholson uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Nicholson stands up and beckons Johnson to his feet.
Nicholson connects with the punch.
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nicholson's waist but Nicholson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Nicholson attempts a counter takedown but Johnson avoids it well and moves away.
Nicholson wants to clinch.
John Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nicholson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.

Johnson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Nicholson breaks from the clinch.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nicholson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lyle Nicholson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Johnson.

Nicholson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johnson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nicholson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nicholson looks up at the clock and then as Johnson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Nicholson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Johnson tries to escape but Nicholson is in control.

Johnson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Johnson looks to move to half guard but instead Nicholson has passed into mount! Damn!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nicholson working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Johnson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Nicholson off and cradles Johnson's limp body as Nicholson celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Lyle Nicholson!
