Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Gilas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gilas's choice of entrance music: Remember The Name - Fort Minor. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thiago Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Neil Gilas!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Alves tries to clinch up but Gilas circles away and keeps his distance.
Gilas tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Alves moves to clinch but Gilas breaks away
and Gilas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gilas takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A bone on bone clash there as Gilas blocks the leg kick.
Alves takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Alves has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilas has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Alves after a bit of a struggle.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gilas creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Alves tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Gilas's coach down at SP ICON sucks donkey dick was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gilas's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

It looks like Neil Gilas has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alves backing away here, and Gilas unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Gilas wants the takedown. Alves is fighting it off but Gilas persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Alves's guard against the cage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gilas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gilas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alves sprawls well initially but Gilas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thiago Alves.
